Select option 4, Register Software
My ninth program, Property Manager [TM], provides property managers with a
powerful administrative tool that will give them a tremendous competitive
edge in their work in supporting existing tenants or in prospecting for new
ones.
This program includes a new feature to attach images to the record of a
tenant and then to display those images.
Many software customers are clamoring for this type of function in their
application software but have to settle for a high-overhead Windows [TM]
environment to view just one type of image, typically in a 'PCX' format.
In the simplest of character-based computers, Property Manager [TM] will
display these formats:
.GIF (Compuserve Graphics Interchange Format)
.PIC (PC Paint, PC Paint Plus, PICTOR, GRASP)
.PCX (PC Paintbrush, Publishers PC Paintbrush)
As long as a personal computer has the requisite color or graphics monitor,
this feature to display images associated with a tenant will work on any
character-based computer, such as MS-DOS [TM] 2.0 through DR DOS [TM] 7.0,
with as little as 640 kb system memory.
To see this feature, please go to the Main Program Menu for Property Manager
[TM]. Once there, observe selection 1:
1) Tenant File
After you select the single character '1', you will then branch to the Tenant
File. Once there, please enter 'G' for Get. After you arrive on the Tenant
File, Get screen, you will observe this text in 'Comment two' of the first
tenant record:
PIC=Car,Logo,Solid]
This phrase tells Property Manager [TM] that these three images are associated
with this tenant's record:
CAR.GIF
LOGO.PCX
SOLID.GIF
The 'PIC=' signifies the start of the listing of your image or images, while
']' means its end. In entering the names of these images, you can exclude
any suffix, such as 'GIF', 'PIC', or 'PCX'. You can have up to 50 images
associated with each tenant record. If you wish to refer to a graphical
image on another location, you can do that too by preceding the location as
part of the listing of files. Let's say that you have a CD-ROM with these
images on drive 'G', then you would have this listing instead:
PIC=G:\Car,G:\Logo,G:\Solid]
In any case, on the bottom left of this tenant Get record, you will see:
I to view Image, Return to Exit
Please select the single character 'I to branch to the 'View Image Menu'. On
that menu, option 1 senses that you have more than one graphical image to
display, it will display a light bar selection from which you make your
selection. With three images associated with this tenant, option 1 will
display a light bar selection of three images in this form:
CAR
LOGO
SOLID
As you scroll up or down this list, you can select any one of these images,
say 'LOGO'. Once 'LOGO' is selected, it will then be displayed to you.
For more information on how this feature works, please read the Help screen
on the 'View Image Menu' by entering 'H'.
